Times are changing like it or not.... MB wants to sell cars..... lots of cars.... Perhaps they are decontenting some electrical features for good reason (to many problems) and other items to keep costs down for we (I) working class to afford and not just the rich and famous...

good point, I guess prices have come down.. I don't know how much I would want to pay for an E... $62500 is fair for a well equipped CDI.. IMHO.. and I ended up dropping so many after purchase mods into it, I came close anyway.. using TVM formulas $62500 in 1980 dollars is about $28,000.. which is what a 240D went for.. I believe the top of the line car was the 450SEL 6.9 at $52,000 in 1980..
I don't know if 10-15% is enough for MB to make their cars better.. I just know we can't let the likes of Lexus reach a point where people start to see them as interchangeable with an MB. That would be sad.
btw.. as an aside, most people don't know 1/2 as much about cars as we do on these forums.. as such, most of the people who I know think I paid a lot more for my E than I really did. When I tell them they start at $51,000 they can't believe it.. especially since many of them have that much sunk into a GMC SUV or something crappy like that.. The average person still thinks all MB's are beyond their means.. when the prices, especially on the C and E are quite reasonable.

E350 specs in brochure
The E350 specs in the brochure I picked up in April 2005 indicate that the front brakes are single piston. Plus there is a note on the back cover that MB reserves the right to make changes in specifications at any time.

When I ordered my car in July, the brochure reflected the 4 piston front caliphers and the larger disk. When I accepted delivery in October, they had already made the change.
To say that I'm furious over this change is an understatement.

Mercedes all the way!
frank: in fact, it is extremely likely that the vast majority of buyers will not notice and will not care.
i consider myself quite a car enthusiast although not technically inclined, and i've no idea what the difference is between the different braking systems beyond the basics. as long as it stops well i've no complaints. sure, if i knew that it used to be 4 pot and now it's not, i won't be happy, but it would hardly be a deal breaker for me.
i might be wrong, but those who really want or need the better brakes can probably justify spending the extra to change. what's $1000 on top of a $50+k car? meanwhile (hopefully) the money is used to improve the quality of what remains. then again, we could argue about whether cheaper brakes actually means lower quality brakes... :p

What's with that curve sensing xeon light you are refering to? I bought the xeon light package and want to make sure I am getting what I paid for.

Do a search under "active headlights"..... You will have a lot of catching up to do.
It seems cars built on or around feb of 04 and later have this option. Indeed you have this option, you will have no problem seeing them work at night when your headlights are on. Turn left and your lights go left up to 15 degree's in to the turn, turn right and the same... I feel this is one of the best options by far in my ride. Especially if you live in a rual area with alot of winding backroads like myself.

My bad. I just got home and browse throught the old '04 E-Class catalog and it clearly shows the rear brake being the vented disk on page 45.
However, the fine print on the back cover also shows "Mercedes-Benz reserves the right to make changes at any time, without notice, in colors, materials, equipment, specifications and models".

Drivers side door jamb (right side) you will see a tag with the date when it was built as well as where it was made. Judging by your delivery date your car probably does not have them...and judging by your response, you probably won't miss the feature anyway.
