Help! - Ballpoint Pen...!

I just searched and found a short thread from 2002 about removing ball point pen from leather but it didn't have too much info. Anybody have any idea? Apparently my wifey decided to stick a ball point pen in hair to hold it up. I have about 6 marks on the white leather headrest now!

I just tried some leather conditioner/cleaner (meguiars) and it only seemed to just fade the black ink to a light blue. This is crazy, the car has 500 miles on it and this happens?!?!?!?!?

Anybody?

BTW, Mark C- I had the white E that Steve installed the HIDs at your place and your wife mentioned that I would probably regret getting such a light interior. 5 days later and this.... I think she jinxed me...

i had similar incidents before, try using a damp cloth..and keep on rubbing on the spot until its gone.

btw it was on a stone leather interior though. not sure it will work in white interior.

Starting fluid. Test it in an inconspicious place first, it may discolor the leather dye. Many years ago I had a 10th Anniversary Pontiac TransAm with silver dyed leather interior. Got blue ink on the drivers seat and the starting fluid removed it.

Very liberally doused on a rag....hairspray. The cheap generic hairnet stuff. As someone made mention, test in an inconspicuous spot first before tackling a headrest.

Yeah mine isn't white. I consider non-gray/brown/black, white. It's stone also. I'll try that when I get home. Thanks.

Glad I have MB-TEX :p

seriously, the dealer on my first oil changed left a nice pen mark on my seat.. he got it out with no problem when I showed him. check with your dealer as they are equipped to deal with these types of accidents.

DON'T USE ANY CHEMICALS. If it doesn't remove it, the chemicals will set the ink. Once set, it will NEVER come off. Also some chemical may react with the tanning solution in the leather and change the leather color!!! I once worked for a leading maintenance chemical mfg. I know what I am talking about. Ball pen ink is very hard to remove since it is absorbed into the leather. I don't know any cleaners can remove ball pen ink. The only one I can think of now is that oxy cleaner they advertise on TV. I would apply the ball pen ink on a inconspicuous area and try to remove with diluted Oxyclean to check for result. Good luck!

Dealer replaced my passenger headrest because it was rattling...

Maybe your headrest should develop a mysterious rattle.

The mysterious rattle can be created by removing the headrest and manipulating the distance between the rails until they fit loosely and rattle over bumps.

You didn't hear this from me.

Try some rubbing alcohol...use very sparingly.
