Success! She can talk!

Linguatronics was successfully installed at PMC (Phoenix Motor Company)..

After the nay sayers at MBUSA, Chandler MB, and Schumacher said it couldn't be done! (I love it!).

Anyway... Part retails for $525 (I got a good customer discount)
labor was 1.5 hrs.. the tech was a great guy, with lots of experience, and took his time to do everything correctly, and replace all wires, parts back nicely.

I do believe they did some kind of version coding, but I'm not sure.

It has full control over the Radio, CD, CDC, and partial (minimal) control of the NAV., the book is space and I couldn't find much about the NAV in it (none actually). Yet I was able to surmise that I can ask for "MAP" or "NAV" when I pressed the "listen up" stock.

I Highly recommend this add on, and as Steve (MBenzNL) reminded me, thank God it's pre-wired for it!

Dan.. Check your PM.

The Euro version of linguatronic can do a lot more in the Nav part of the COMAND, but the US version can baraly do anything! Otherwise, I love the Linguatronic, especially for the phone system!

Don't tell me there is a European version that does more!

I'm getting sick of hearing how European versions do more.. what gives MBUSA?

If I knew, I would have bought it from Steve instead of the dealer.. but Steve didn't make mention of a difference when I contacted him.

Congratulations. I am going in to the dealer tomorrow for an A/c problem. Will ask my SA about this upgrade.

WOW! Is the Euro or US Spec? I'll try some of these and see if they do anything.

brian & ace... works like a charm. I can't for the life of me understand why it's not standard! Worked the first time, and even with several different voices, including me, wife, and 5 year old son.

A COOL feature is where you can store radio stations by their name.. i.e. my favorite out here is KBAQ (Bach i.e. classical).. so I just say "Select Station" and it says "Station name" and I say "K-Bach" and bang! 89.5 comes up!

too cool!

Voice commands work almost flawlessly! The only time you might have trouble is if you are driving with the window down or sunroof open because of all the added ambient noise. There is an area in the menu to train the unit to respond better to your own voice, but I have never done this because the voice recognition is SO GOOD right ouit of the box.

GM's voice commands on Onstar are downright primitive by comparison. I end up screaming obscenities at the mirror. With Onstar you must say a terlephone number 1 digit at a time & wait for voice confirmation, with MB, if a number is not already in your phone book, you simply say "1 212 555 1234", pausing momentarilly where I have typed a space.

Its "Groovie Smoothie"

That's probably because the Euro VR kit won't work flawlessly with your US comand...

it's not based on those presets.. you have to go thru and do voice presets for all of your favorite stations, then you can use voice commands to call them up ... for example.. "station KBAQ" calls up my KBAQ 89.5 that I have set in #1.. but it could just as easily be in #4 or what ever, they're not linked to the presets you already have in your radio.

You can however seek to the next mhz as you could otherwise do from the steering colums, but you cannot go to the next preset in your radio, that's a bug that has to be fixed as Konig is working to get them to do.

Please correct me if I am wrong. Steve installed a Euro Comand in my CLS already and with this system, I can have voice control my Euro comand functions such as voulume, nav, radio, CDC, Viseo, map.... Am I right? If so, where can I get it? Who can install in my area, San Jose, CA?

Thanks in advance!

email steve.. I believe the Euro COMAND "may" need a different part than than the US COMAND.. but I could be COMPLETELY WRONG.

I can't control Volume on mine, except with the steering wheel..
