E350(V6) almost as much HP then Lexus LS430 V8)
The E350 has a V6 with 268HP while Lexus flagship has a V8 with 278HP. Only 10 HP difference. Amazing.
As you know, the Japanese automakers has overestimated their horsepower rating. Lexus rated their LS430 at 290HP but in fact is only 278HP.

Dr. Diesel says...
It's not the HP its the torque that matters.
Hate to burst your bubble, but the LS430 puts out 312 lb-ft vs. the MB which puts out 258 lb-ft.
The lexus will "feel" much stronger under normal use since it has more power in the "practical" rpm range.
The MB's peak HP of 268 comes at 6,000 rpm. How often do you access that kind of RPM's....exactly, only when you are "*******" your car.
Horsepower ratings in general are marketing garbage, on everything including cars and lawn mowers. Its a term used because people can relate to.....wow, that tractor has the power of 25 horses!!!
A Briggs and Stratton motor in a Sears Crapsman mower may "have 25 HP."
A Kubota or Yanmar diesel rated at 20 HP must be inferior, right?...LOL.
Horsepower cannot even be measured, its a computation, derived from the torque being produced at specific RPM.
Aviation jet engines produce crazy HP, something like 160,000 HP for a 747 arliner, 40,000 HP per hole. But they don't list that in the specs. Specs call out lbs of thrust....the real measure of useable power.

Dead on correct. Many people buy HP, but drive torque (m)

Using your logic, then Lexus 3.5V6 has more HP @306 and 280lb-ft, it must be more out of this world as compare to MB's new V6.

Horsepower sells cars, Torque wins races...
old saying.
As for the E350's V6... it's smooth, and very quick.. The only thing that would have made it perfect is if it were an I-6!
