![Cool](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon6.gif)
car is an '05 e320 cdi with 41k miles.
the car is at the shop for 2 days, they don't have the part, or so they say.
I hope it isn't that they don't know how to replace them.

OR
did the coil/component that sends power to the glowplugs fail?
more details when you can pls.
BTW... we have a diesel forum now for diesel specific issues, so our Gas powered W211 friends don't have to be bothered with our oilburner specific issues.. You may also find more "knowledgeable" diesel types hanging out there to add to your discussion.

What was the symptom?
The car should start without glow except on really cold mornings.
Without glow it will start but run really rough until warmup on the cold days.
If its completely no-start then its the relay/etc. But again, it would have to be really cold, like below 35 degrees F.
If it just runs rough until warm, then its 1 or 2 plugs.
BTW they probably don't have the part, Even a fuel filter was an order item at my dealer. Glow plug replacement is not a big deal, unlikely they don't know how to replace the plugs.

Well this morning my glow plug light stayed on longer than usual (1 minute in 45 degree weather, not too cold) but also had a check engine light come on as well. Kort, did this also happen to you?
When checking the owners manual, it states it could indictae exhaust issue or diesel electronic issues. I guess i'll take it in to my SA and see what he has to say. I'll keep all posted.

Just spoke w/ my SA. It was a glow plug that went bad. I should get the car back on Monday. Thanks Kort.

Ok, here we go again... another glow plug and CEL today. How many are there? Frustrated as I know it's an easy issue to resolve but time is one thing that is very precious for me. Off to see my SA. I'll keep you posted.

They take about 2 seconds to change. If you remove the two engine covers, they can be accessed with a deep 10mm socket. No other disassembly is required, unlike the previous diesels.
