2 New Recalls. Just returned from Dealer.

I brought the car into MB Orlando for the SBC Recall with the ground wire, bracket, etc. They found two other Recalls new for 2005. One was a reprogram of the charging circuit for the two batteries, and one required replacement of the SAM unit in the left rear of the trunk. All required additional programming. Big problem was afterwards the Pano roof would not resync, and technician had to SDS the Pano roof in order for it to re-sync. He wrote down extra items as this was the first SAM unit the dealer had replaced under the recall and they did not have instructions from MBUSA regarding the re-sync of the roof. I do not know if these two only pertain to 2003 models or more.

The Campaign numbers are:
Charging Circuit:2005060008
SAM replacement:2005100009

Actually 2005060008 has been around since AUG05. 2005100009 I’ll check into when I get a chance.

Hey Konigstiger...take a look at my post on the W220 forum...The 7G Thunk. I outline the procedure they used to solve the problem with my S430 transmission and there is a reference to "called the EDAC and told to replace..." Who or what is the EDAC?

Thanks

EDAC = Enhanced Diagnostic Assistance Center. The dealer needs their authorization to remove the transmission from the vehicle and proceed with repair.

It looks as though they might have followed DTB P-B-27.60/61a NOV05 – 7G-Tronic Transmission Rough Shift Quality. Rough 1-2, 3-2 and 2-1 gearshifts may be due to the specific gear not being fully adapted or there could be a mechanical cause.

Thanks...I knew you would have the answer! They replaced the Valve Body and re-adapted the transmission so I guess it was a mechanical cause. Whatever it was they did it cured the problem...smoothest tranny I have ever had.

I too am amazed at how smooth this transmission is. I thought the transmission in the ’03 e320 was smooth but as our good friend Vince (HOH) once said: “If you didn’t look down at the tach you would never know the transmission was shifting!”
