More and latest facelift photos

Saw these photo on Mbcanada.com, thought I would shared it here. The changes I see is a new taillights, front grille, front bumper, new side mirror and some changes to the headlights. Anyway I think is it looking good, especially the more agressive grille.

I am glad the changes are subtle. The camo is very well done because I can't tell the difference on the taillights right now...

The aspect ratio of the photos may be off, stretched vertically. That would make the "new" grille look taller than it really is. Assuming that the "new" grille really is larger - they have to change something after four years, right? - they must have also raised the center section of the hood to fit the new, taller, grille. Well, nobody can say that a big grille is un-Mercedes-like; Stuttgart kept the big square ones well into the 1970s.

Should arrive the middle of 2006 as a 2007 MY. Hopefully, diesels will arrive sometime later in the year. Anybody have an idea when the new 4-valve V8's will arrive?

Thanks. Also, do the 500's get the 5.5 388hp or the 4.5 330hp V8's?

I think that the new grille is going to be taller -- but narrower as well...so does that actually make it a 'larger' grille?

My 2 cents...I'd be surprised if the new grille takes different dimensions from the old one. We already have 3 designs of grille, so it can't be hard to come up with another revision - and as this is merely a facelift, I can't see that Mercedes will want to be messing with the size and shape of body panels.

I think that they're going to remake this car in the same vein as the others in regards to pedestrian and cyclist safety laws: so the upper half of the front end should be lower, have a smaller central area, and have more curve over the front of the hood and onto the fenders where the headlights are -- and may even include use of crumple zones in the hood (ala the GL). That's what I'm thinking, anyway.... I don't see why, if it is a bodywork redesign, they wouldn't account for this and incorporate it into the 'facelift'..... I think that I can see alot of this smaller frontal area with more curve in the 2007 S-Class, too...... Am I nuts?

From the new S-Class Microsite: "The new V-Shaped grille is larger and more expressive than its predecessor's, and hints at the legendary Mercedes-Benz grille design of yesterday."

This is probably where the new E-class grille is going too.

Just my 2 cents worth on styling matters........

I guess it is hard to say from a picture, but that grill and those mirrors/tail lights are not a step forward.....

Hopefully the car in real will look better as I like to see E-class sales stay good for Mercedes, but I can see loving my current E350 more and more.

In fact, if the improved I-drive and second cocpit bulges containing command type displays on the new S-class are things to come on future E's (the next complete re-design), it might be that my current car will be as perfect and an all time high in design and styling by Mercedes as in my opinion BMW achieved with the previous 5 series (or E39).

Not only do I not like the taillights, I do not like the SOS antenna on the roof. The black antenna on the back window is much less obvious than the body colored one on the roof. The jury is still out on the mirrors. They may be more aerodynamic and be worth .005 mpg.

Until I saw those pictures, I didn't know that there was a body colored insert in the taillights. I'm not sure about that.

However, I do like the new phone, TeleAid and Sat antenna combined and put in one place. It's better then having a bunch of antennas all over the place.

That just gave me a crazy idea .... I could put black tape all over my car and everyone would follow me around with a camera.

A nice way to get your old car published in a spy magazine.
