How to turn the volume down once and for all?

How do I turn my radio volume down so that it stays down? Right now, whenever i stop and restart the ignition, the radio goes back to a preset volume. I have to turn it down every time i get in the car.

The volume you get when you start the car is the volume u get when you had shut down the car.
When you shut down the car you were occupied with driving and your head was full of jumbled assorted thoughts so the radio seemed to be more in the background.

I wish it were that simple...

I turn it way down. Then when I restart the car, radio is on again (not at an offensieve level but why wont it stay down).

What if you turn it off by pushing the on/off button when parking.

Turn off radio with engine still running, does it still come on by itself at re-start?

Yes, I'd love to know if this is possibel. I sometimes, just want the nav on and no radio, but I have to manually turn it doen each time. I need to have the head unit on in order to connect my mobile phone. But just how can the radio be silenced with other functions remaining operational?

Try Selecting [AUX] as your Audio selection, then press the [NAV] button.

Next time you step into your w211, you shouldn't hear a peep from the radio, since your input source is now [AUX].

Have you tried pressing the mute before turning the car off?
