Reached 10000 miles trouble free

Today I passed the 10,000 miles mark. My 2006 E350 (Sindelfingen built April 05) has been trouble free.

What I really like about my car :
- strong engine with plenty torque to accelerate at any speed
- the 7 sp auto gearbox (have not experienced any of the problems recently posted)
- the appearance package interior ash leather/birds eye wood combination
- the airmatic suspension on Houston roads
- the nano paint stays beautiful with time

What I do not like as much about the car :
- the "cloth" door sills
- the apparently softer front window glass with some pitting (as discussed in one of the recent threads, but indeed expect the same for the main E-class "rivals" A-6 and BMW 5)
- cannot think of anything else

I wonder if something like this would do the trick for the door sills (applied over the cloth part of the sills):
http://www.truckstuffusa.com/stainsteelcu.html
http://www.stylinconcepts.com/parts....artfamilyid/93

I guess the issue would be:
- is it going to stay in place
- is it going to look OK.....
- is it going to "leak" air and make noise on the door rubbers
Any opinions/experiences?

So far carpet cleaner is doing the trick every so many weeks.

Quick pics of the car

I wish they would do the trick, but both products are meant to cover the outer door sill; in our cars that's the part that says "Mercedes Benz". Not many people want to cover that up; in fact some people go in for lighted sills in that area. What we need is a good-looking cover for the inner door sill, and I haven't seen one yet.

I was thinking the stainless steel one cut to the right length may actually fit the inner door sill (covering the cloth part and maybe the plastic part but not the sills with MB written on it) , but I was curious whether somebody else had tried or found a solution?
