It won't stop you from curbing your wheels...what's the point? It is a woman's option. No one who drives often needs electronic help backing into a parking space. But thanks for the pricing info.

A standard feature of the car is dipping the passenger external rear view mirror when reverse is engaged to avoid scraping wheels on curbs.

I think that parktronic is not just for women as firstly the rear end design of these modern cars don't allow clear rear vision of the end of the boot making it hard to judge the cars dimensions especially when the car is new and unfamiliar.

Secondly,it is not that hard for your concerntration to slip when reversing.More then once my partronic beeper has gone off when I thought all was clear only to find a childs toy, pole, pot plant or another large object I didn't see when I jumped in the car.

Thirdly,in the news recently a partronic devise saved a mother from runnning over one of her children playing in the front yard while she was reversing her 4 wheel drive along the driveway.

Partronic may not be for everyone but it is certainly not just for the unskilled.

Angry

That make the $1150 special order charge sucks! MB always advertise itself as safety goes first. They should standardized the parktronic or at least not make it a $1035 + $1150 option.

Hmrdwn, only today I had to drive in/out of a big department store multi - storey parking lot in the city centre. And I used Parktronic to its' fullest, there was only an inch on either side of the car on the entrance/exit, add a serious angled climb/descent to that and you have a trouble. I guess in America you have much bigger car facilities of any kind, not just parking lots, because of the traditional size american cars had/have. In Europe, as you probably know, the streets are very narrow, especially in the old cities and the same goes for any space/pasage - they were designed many years ago for a car like 13 feet long and 5 feet wide. The space isn't adequate for today's needs and that's one of the main reasons for the traffic jams here.
I think Parktronic is an excellent tool, there's nothing to be ashamed about using it, I don't think it's effeminative in any way.

I heard the samething from my dealer. No extra special order charge for Parktronic. He said the special order fee only applies to special colors and Designo.

Special Order on W211

Have your salesperson ck on Netstar Ordering Update. With a PO#, go to Order Update and as soon as you click on Parktronic, the special order fee comes up.

I work for MKT Dept at a So Cal Dealer and I ordered an E500 for myself and that was my discovery.
