Front Lift Point(s) for a 2003 E320

Hey, I was going to try and lift up my E320 and put it on jack stands to take a look at the design and complexity of the suspension/brakes etc. I read that you can use the black rubber block that comes through the under belly pan that is on the cross memer so I tried jacking it up. I use a 2.5 ton jack and I took the plate off and started jacking it up. while jacking it up I noticed that that block would slip off the jack cause as the car went up, that jack moved forward and away from the block. I'm worried about using this method to jack up my car.
Anybody know if I can use the jackpoints for the factory jack???? I really wouldn't reccomend using that rubber block. I read that if you use the jack on those points you might marr up the car. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Anybody know if the lifts at the dealership are just like any other lifts as well. If they can lift it up, there must be lift points?????

Jacking point on W211 engine cross member

I have successfully used the jacking point that you describe on both my W211 E500 and my R171 SLK350. I did change the standard cup on my floor jack to a rubber padded one that I found on eBay. I don't have any problems with slipping or marring the bottom of the car. The SLK350 and E500 appear to use the same jacking point pads on the sides between the wheels. I modified some Quickset jack stands to fit into these "side skirt" jack pads. These links may be of interest to you.

Hey Fgwinn, Thanks for the threads !!!!! They were helpful. I think I'm gonna try and get that plate and jack up on the factory lift points. If I'm gonna jack up on the cross member lift point, I think I'm going to take the under belly pan and pad out so that there's a metal-to-metal interface. When I lift my crown vic from the cross member, the jack usually moves alittle bit with the car because there is a tight metal to metal interface and the jack plate moves away from the car as it lifts. Using plastic on the cross member just doesn't make me feel safe. I dunno, just my opinion. Hey any idea if you can just put the jack stands under the front lower control arms? I think they hold the weight of the car anyway.
Thnx

Hey I found a company that makes a custom jack saddle that I think might be perfect for the mercedes lift points!!! They made the jack saddle for a BMW but it looks like it might mate with the factory points perfectly
