is there anyway to make the NAV display the map in 3D.

 

The navigation on the W211 will do only a straight-down view. Other M-B models that use a different head unit can do a perspective, or "birds-eye" view, which I assume is what you mean by 3D.

the MB nav system sucks *****. I got a Garmin unit in mine...light years ahead of what mercedes has to offer. Only downside is that it has to sit on top of the dash instead of being neatly integrated into the command.

 

I agree that the MB system is poor and have a Magellan Road Mate 700 that I use in my other cars. It gives you better advance notice of turns and a more "user friendly" interface. I even use it in rental cars when I'm away from home. However, I still use my factory installed MB system. in spite of it's weak features, in my MB because of its COMMAND integration. My MAJOR complaint for the MG system is poor advance notice of the next turn. To get around this, I use a larger map display and look at it to see if I should be in the left or right lane before I hear the voice notification of where I should be.
