Brake Wear Measurement 20,000 miles
For my E320 CDI with 20,000 miles, I measured the brake wear with the MB Brake Pad Wear guage.( part number posted in a previous post). The fronts were at 9mm and the rears were at 7mm. When you hit 3mm, there is very little pad left and it is definitely time to change. From my previous post, the rears are not really wearing out faster, they are thinner to begin with. This particular car does a lot of in town stop and go.

Good information. I am at 49000 miles and the brakes are still good. I just had them checked while in for maintenance. I drive mostly highway.
