Now THIS scared me.. SBC/ESP failure, erratic throttle.

Yesterday, I noticed something odd. Bad shimmy/vibration. I thought it was a bent wheel. When I was driving to work this morning, a whole 2 miles, and all of a sudden I get a SBC warning, and then an ESP warning. So.. ok.. I proceed with caution going about 40 mph.

Then, I notice a spongy feeling in the brake feel. I have to push more as I come to a stop. Then when I give it gas, right as it shifts into 2nd, it literally LURCHES forward, as if i gave it maybe 1/3 to 1/2 throttle. I think, maybe its my lack of coffee and im jittery. But no. It did this 2 more times as I pulled into my office. Now I'm scared to even drive it to a dealership. Closest is Feltcher Jones, and I hate them. Now I have both cars that are no-go. I had to put a new engine in the Noble (long stor) and has been in the shop for a month

Anyone know of a good tech at either Caliber or Laguna Niguel?

@*#$ing cars.

Sounds like possibly a voltage problem. Have you had all the known TSB's installed on your car?

As far as I know. I request them, half the time the dealership is unaware.

Go to www.nhtsa.dot.gov ASAP and check out some of the recalls. Here's one of em

Summary:
ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, THE ELECTRONIC MONITORING SYSTEM OF THE SENSOTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL (SBC) IS DESIGNED TO MONITOR THE PRESSURE GRADIENT WITHIN THE HIGH PRESSURE LINE OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM. IF AN UNACCEPTABLE PRESSURE GRADIENT IS DETECTED, THE SYSTEM WILL SWITCH, AS IT IS DESIGNED TO DO, INTO THE HYDRAULIC FUNCTION MODE.
Consequence:
IF VEHICLES ARE NOT ROUTINELY SERVICED AND HAVE EXTREMELY HIGH MILEAGE COMBINED WITH A HIGH NUMBER OF BRAKE ACTUATIONS, OR A HIGH BRAKE ACTUATION FREQUENCY, THE PUMP MOTOR OF THE SBC MAY RUN OUT OF PERMISSIBLE TOLERANCES, THEREBY TRIGGERING THE HYDRAULIC FUNCTION MODE.
Remedy:
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE SBC HYDRAULIC UNIT, REPLACING IT IF NECESSARY. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 21M 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT MERCEDES-BENZ AT 1-800-367-6372.
Notes:
MERCEDES-BENZ RECALL NO. 2004 050014. CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION’S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).
