Just asking for your to prove what you say, thats all.... If this was such a wide problem as you make it out to be, then I'm wondering why total brake failure hasn't happened to a non-forum member out in the real world. Certainly we would have read at least one article or have seen at least one news report about the problems you report.

Improve my back-up system???? Chances are I will never need it and thanks to members here I now know how to use it to its fullest potential.

I'm quite happy to have a back-up system, tell me about your back-up system in that C ....

But of course not, you...and MB....are wishing for 100% reliability. Wide enough of a problem to get better closure than people have been given so far. Are you asking me to prove that the failures reported by other people on the internet actually happened...like the posts are lies? You may be insulting more than just a couple of W211 owners. I doubt brake failure is a newsworthy item until it produces multiple lawsuits. Time is on my side for that one, unfortunately. My C brakes have multiple points of redundancy and feedback that are used by every manufacturer that sells cars in the US...actually, it gives more feedback. It's a system that has been tested and refined by the collective automobile industry to maximize safety. New brake thinking is great as long as it doesn't take a step back in safety like SBC.

You're right there, worse reliability I've ever had in a new car. But it never puts anyone in harms way.

So tell me what is wrong with this interpretation of what you are saying. As H on a H pointed out, this word you chose to use really sums it all up!

Paranoia.
par·a·noi·a

1. Extreme and unreasonable suspicion of other people (or Mercedes SBC equipped vehicles and/or their drivers) and their motives.

2. A psychiatric disorder involving systematized delusion, usually of persecution (or of SBC failure).

Why don’t YOU write back to Mercedes Benz and tell them that they are lying to you and prove it to them?

Seeing that your threads have been very representative of the term you used to describe yourself, I am not going to attempt to reason with you. It sure seems like you are a few shades past paranoid about something you can do nothing about. Not to mention that you let this bother you 1000% more than it has bothered me.

If you don’t like your C class, then sell it and get something you like. Or do you enjoy being a victim of inanimate objects like a C class or the SBC?

Paranoid is what paranoid does.

New brake thinking? Seems to me that the SBC concept has been around for quite a few years in the aircraft industry.

the SBC has saved my *** at least 3 times. The stopping distance is remarkable for the size of the car. I know for a fact had I been driving my other car, I would have caused an accident in teh same situation. Driving another car after the w211, you can really feel the difference in stopping power.

I REALLY think theres a bigger chance that the SBC will SAVE my life than failing in a critical moment.

New for automobiles. And I think it's great as long as it doesn't take a step backwards from current technology. Even though there's no numbers to support the 'better' claim I don't doubt the users' belief that SBC is better when it works, and it usually does. I believe the increase in functionality is not worth the reduced reliability and consequences when it fails.
