Theres is no option for an AMG package from MBUSA. Maybe when the car starts rolling into dealers, they might be able special order the Kit and intall it at the dealer for you.

I personally feel the package wasn't offered on the W211 because of the expense of the W210 Eclass Sport package. Its possible that Mercedes wasn't selling enough of the SP on the previous Eclass to warrant offering it on the new one (at least for the U.S. and Canada).
Indeed it does suck, I think the only way one will be able to get the kit is by ordering the parts and having the dealer/body shop install them.....either that or wait for the E55K.

THIS MAKES THE NEXT E55 LOOK EXCLUSIVE!
This type of marketing started with the W203 C-Class. The W203 sport package has no AMG parts, which leaves the C32 with a complete separate and unique look.
The W211 E55 will be exclusive and the W211 Sport package will not be a clone of the next E55. BMW also had sport packages for the 5-Series with no parts shared from the M5 (same for M3). However, I read that the 2003 E39 5-Series will have the M5 body kit available from the factory as a sport package option.

I still think its more than just an exclusive thing.......they offer the full AMG look on the S, CL, SL, and I would imagine that it will continue into 2003. I'm sure the Sport package sells better on the more expensive models (certainly would make sense).
I'm still holding my first thought that offering the full package in the States was more trouble than its worth for the W211 E500 (due to limited demand on the W210).

How come the CLK430/500 and SLK (R170) are available with the AMG Sport Package, but not the new W211???? This is very puzzling to me. Seems like I should change my order and get a CLK500 instead. 
More bang for the buck, IMHO.
Guess I just gotta wait another two weeks and see what my new E500 looks like. Hope its A LOT nicer in person than the pics I've seen...

I was praying that the sports package will be the AMG package, but I guess I will have to contact D2 to get the bodykit.

Eye of the beholder, I suppose.
But the CLK is now much more a C class than before and the E class is much more luxurious and technically advanced than before.
The W208 and W210 were much closer together in terms of overall appeal than the W209 and W211.
I believe MB is trying to separate these niches, and I think they've done a nice job.
The CLK is an upgraded C.
The new E is clearly a full notch above the CLK as a touring car, and the E55 is the best of both worlds, sport and luxury touring potential.
