There are no odd questions, only odd answers.
M-B's impending E-Class generation numbering crisis is even worse than it looks because W215 is already claimed by the CL-Class, and W220 and W221 are claimed by the outgoing and incoming S-Class. Maybe M-B will have to go to fractions (W-219.5) or letters (W-219a).
But serially. If BMW can jump generation numbers from E39 (Yay!) to E60 (Boo! Hiss!) in just one generation, M-B can probably find numbers somewhere for its future generations.
