For those with bigger than stock rims on their E-Class with air-ride
I'm considering upsizing the wheels on my 2004 E500. I have the appearance package with 17's on there now. I'm assuming that going with a bigger wheel and lower profile tire that the smoothness of the ride will suffer. So my question is for anyone that has put 18's or even 19's on their car.
1. How bad, if any, does the ride suffer after putting bigger wheels on?
2. Does having the air-ride suspension help at all with this?
3. Do you need to lower the car if you upsize in order to make it look right, or will setting the suspension to Sport-2 do the trick without lowering?
Thanks guys/gals.
Really appreciate it.

Cmon!
Someone has to know if putting bigger wheels will mess up the smooth ride of this car.
Anybody? Anybody?

NOPE. Haven't experienced any faults with larger than stock wheels. I am running 19's with 275 30's on the rear and 245 35's in the front. I also have airmatic and was able to lower the car through this feature.
Without the lowering the car with the rims, to me looked kind of weird, not bad though. The MB computer was able to lower the car about .50" all the way around.
The handling was not sacrificed, although with any larger wheel upgrade, there will be some sort of road noise...not that bad.
One however must always be careful for potholes, dips, etc.
