Hedge fuel prices...

Interesting concept, buy fuel for the future and hedge against rising prices. There’s a company in MN (the only retailer in the country) that lets you lock in fuel prices – available to anyone with no service charge, no storage charge, and just $1 lifetime membership fee. Also, gift cards are available. Customers who got in years earlier are now paying 99 cents a gallon! The company hedges its obligations by buying gasoline futures contracts on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Actually it’s just one part of a larger business that has other divisions such as oil recycling. The idea seems new however, heating oil dealers offer this to customers who want to lock in a price for the current heating season.

Not a fianance major - but just some simple math to confirm why CDI would be acost advantage on top of fuel cost other than being cheaper than a e500 + the gas tax.

If it does go up yes CDI is worth it !!!

nice chart.. I'm getting more like 28mpg around town in my CDI, and as much as 40mpg on the highway..... with Diesel costing $2.95 or so here, and super $3.30ish... I'm saving more than 60% off owning a E500.. This may explain why used CDI's are selling for more than E500's even though they're not packed with as many features..

my 0-60 is 1 second slower, and my 1/4 mile .5 sec... woptie doo.

I drove a CDI, the lack of performance far outweighed the fuel economy benefit.. at least in my opinion.
sounds like you're a speed demon, and the E55 would have been your best bet..

btw, your 1/4 mile number is quite low for an E500.. did you trick it out any? Best I've seen on a stock car is 14.6, and my best time is 14.9 in my CDI.. not a huge difference, when you consider I'm getting double the milage out of an engine with twice the life span.
