Keeping the CD Player paused...

The following is what is normally the case and what I therefore call "normal" operation:

Prior to turning off the car I press Mute to pause the CD Player (or Changer). When I next trun on the engine, the player is still paused (muted).

The following then is not normal: Periodically, and without any obvious action on my part, the player will un-pause after restarting the car.

As randomly as it comes, the system seems to revert to "normal" after a period of time, although right now I am in the abnormal state.

I have tried muting before the engine is turned off and also after it is off but before pressing the Start Engine button (Keyless Go). No difference. I saw a somewhat similar post a few months ago regarding retaining the volume so I assume this is not completely unique but insights and suggestions are welcome as I now have to remember to mute the player (or radio) as soon as I start the car.

Why do you mute the audio prior to shutting down the engine & leaving the car?

I mute it because I don't want it to be on when I start the car. I may mute it minutes before I stop driving....and likewise, I may not want any audio until I've driven a little while.

You say:

"...although right now I am in the abnormal state."

Does this mean you're drunk?

Maybe I'm missing something here but why not just turn off the CD player? You can then turn it on later when you start driving. That's what I do...

I could turn off the entire NAV system, but I shouldn't have to. I want the system to either operate the way it seems to be designed or, alternatively, the same way all the time.

My general question then is - does your system work as I have described as "normal".

When you say "turn off he CD player" do you mean switching to Radio, etc.

I think he meant to turn the entire system off, which is what I do. But, it's an annoyance that the nav also shuts off too. We've talked about this a long time ago here on the forum.
