Retro-fit roll down rear door side shades?

My 2003 W211 was not ordered with roll down rear door side shades.

Has anyone successfully retro-fitted roll down rear door side shades? I find it hard to believe that this has not been done with all the talent on this forum. I have done a complete search of posts and have not found an answer to my question. I have not been to my stealer yet but it would seem to me that there would be a part number for these items and it would just be a matter of swapping out my non-shade arm rests for shade equipped arm rests. I prefer not to tint since I like the blue factory tint of the sport package windows. And I definitely do not want the cheesy MB clip-ons.

You will need MB Parts:
6-6691332 left side
6-6691333 right side

$86 each.

does not include door panels, obviously.

You can order the moulding for each door panel and cut your own openings.

I think they come with mounting hardware as well....

Should be a very easy mod...

There are two versions of these.

The easiest to install kind just mounts to plastic clips at bottom--the clips simply push into door molding at front and rear. These shades do not roll down. Rather, one just completely removes them.

I would be quite surprised if the shades that indeed roll out of sight into the door panels are the same shades. I suspect the p/n quoted above are not that type, but rather are the simple versions.

Obviously the surely more expensive route involves replacement door panels and some sort of retraction mechanism as well. I'd like to know the full details as well.

that suspecion is correct

We have done the rear sideshade retrofit (the original in-door solution) and unless one finds a set of doorpanels in the proper color - this is an expensive modification as one needs 2 new doorpanels PLUS miscelanious doorparts since those don't come with the actual doorpanels...think 1500USD+
