Ventilated seat question

So, I have a 2004 E500 with the vented seat/dynamic seat option. I'm trying to determine if this option is just a gimmick or is it really working for the other people out there that have it. It seems like mine turn on, I can hear the fans, but the seat never really cools down. Maybe, and I mean maybe, it cools down just a little. I have a 2003 Lincoln Aviator with A/C seats that will freeze your butt and back off. Now, I know there is difference between A/C seats and ventilated seats but I would think they would cool you off at least a little bit. I live in the DC area and the temp here has been in the low 70's for a while now. Even at this temperature, the seats aren't cooling that well, so what's it gonna be like when it hits 90 around here? Anyway, is this 'normal' operation for this option or does it sound like that there may be something wrong with mine? By the way, it's the same for both front seats.

Thanks guys and gals. Any info will be appreciated.

Mine work great. Turn your heated seats on until you can't stand it and then throw the ventilated seats on and you will see how quick it cools it down.

Remember the fans they do not blow they suck... (lol).

This sounds gross but I notice it most when I'm sweaty. If you've go a little perspiration going, you'll cool off and dry out pretty quickly. Because of this, they actually work better I think when it gets hotter. Remember, they're not air conditioned seats, they're ventilated. They pull air through but don't cool it.

the seats are VENTILATED - not COOLED...the seats just ventilate to prevent your from sweating too much...the seats don't cool down

Right. I understand that there is a major difference between A/C and ventilated seats, as my original post stated. But I would think that they would cool at least a little bit. My friend's new IS250 has ventilated seats and they're much, much better than mine. You can put your hand over the seat and feel air blowing out. Even though they are not A/C seats, they still cool you down. I guess that I was expecting more from MB and such a nice car. Granted my Aviator is very nice and it wan't cheap either but, man, Lincoln really knows what they're doing with their climate controlled seats.

Thanks for the input, guys. I guess I'm glad a little bit to know that there's nothing wrong with my seats, they just suck.

The seats actually blow. Not suck. stick a piece of paper on it and turn them on. Mercedes decided against having an actual cooling elements as direct cold to the body causes body aches.
