Advice on 19" wheels

Hey everyone,

I have the E55 AMG 18" wheels but after a while they just seem plane.. I was thinking of getting larger 19" wheels (OEM only, no replicas/bremma/tsw!)

Two wheels come to mind:
1) The CLS55 19" wheels
2) The SL65 19" titanuim wheels

My car is white so I used another member's photo for reference (with the CLS55 wheels) and I photoshoped the SL65 rims on it in another photo.. The last one is from a showroom that I passed by and inspired me to consider those nasty 19" SL65s

also...

I was told to go with the following:

19x8.5 - 235/35/19

19x9.5 - 265/30/19

I hear that you could go with 19x10 but it depends on the rim/offset. etc... I hear that 20's will be a pain with having to roll the fenders, avoiding pot-holes (bent rims) and rubbing..............

Look at the 2 threads:

I thought 19" tires were eventually getting phased out? Although not entirely, but I was informed they will become more expensive. Got this from a reputable tire company....

Which tire company told you this? What is the basis for phasing out 19" tires?

To me, that doesn't make sense because there are so many 19" rims out there.

Spoke to a executive from Kauffman Tire Depot... he said they are starting to phase out odd sizes over 17". It will make the even sizes cheaper... so I am told...

Don't kill the messenger... I was looking at 19's myself.. and was swayed to 18's.....

I'm curious what they consider an "odd size" to be. I hope a 245/35, 275/30 is not "odd"

I think he meant odd as being a odd number wheel diameter.
