True, and I think one of the reasons was the incredible price. If I remember correctly, it was up around 75-80K, remembering that this was 10 years ago, so that was some really decent bank.

That's exactly right.. Back in those days the only MB convertible was the SL so the E-convertible was the next best thing.. Now that almost all manufacturers have diversified into the roadster/cabrio models, it's no longer justifiable to put the CLK (today's equivalent of the w124) at such a sharp premium over the current W211

That is the W124 E-Class Coupe, a classic. They were made from 1988-1995...it changed from the 300CE to the E320 Coupe, but it was the same car. The current CLK is the replacement in the market, but it isn't the same type of car IMO.

True...

I think the main reason would be that back in those old days the coupe was an identical 2-door copy of the sedan. And I saw a lot of those in Dubai (seemed to be v.popular).

The thing with the W124 E-Class Coupe is that it's more masculine, whereas the CLK is getting more and more feminine for some reason.. At least in my home town it's obviously clear that it's becoming more of a chick's ride (I would say at least 8 out of 10 are driven by women).

I'm not being sexist, I'm just stating the facts! loool
