05 CDI Solving AM Static Problem
Step 1 - Dealer checks for audio codes and finds none. No reflash for audio available. Could not duplicate. The dealer is about 35 miles closer to the high power station and could not duplicate the static. The problem seems to manifest itself when you need to pull in a distant station, but it is well within the capability of this system to deliver a strong, clear signal at that distance.
Step 2 - Dealer, at my insistance, replaces the splitter.( a known fault issue with this car ). No help.
Step 3 - I spoke with the service manager and he opened a TAC case. An update was found for the audio gateway and that was re-flashed.
Now here is the really interesting part. There is also a DTB P-B-82.62/499 Brake Wear Sensor Mod. I don't know, but will find out, the details. It involves the front left brake pad wear sensor( the 50%) one. It apparently is generating a signal, or creating grounds of some sort that are picked up and amplified as static when you are trying to pull in a distant station.
The mod fixed the static completely. As soon as I find out the details of the 50 % sensor mod, I will post it.
