Whose car has actually worked fine without any problems?
All the problems I have had were minor and any car would have had them, in fact I think my Acura has more problems with the electronics than the Mercedes. I would not hesitate at all in purchasing a Mercedes.
*sigh* never mind, what you think wouldn't even cover half of the problems. I can't even remember them all. I know the turn signal wires and module were bad, replaced the console piece that is under the radio because it was draining the battery (caused car to die), srs sensors all over the place had to be replaced, display defective that comes on when it wants and flickers the dash, ac shuts off intermittently and comes back on within 1 or 2 seconds, audio gateway caused crackling in speakers...that's all i can remember right now. I know there is more.
folks with later model years should be thankful...
Check this thread. How many people who have cars built after about 3/04 have had serious problems? Not many.
As for Lexus, they let the Germans do the R&D for them before they implement new technology. Toyota isn't stupid. Think of all the money they save using safety innovations that Mercedes gives away.
Thanks for all the info...I think I should be okay with none of the fall prod CDI's it sounds like. Glad to see Merc have finally gotten most of the bugs fixed in their newer model years. '07 seems to be a groundbraking (pardon the bad SBC pun) year for Merc Reliability!
The E550 will replace the TL, and the E63 will replace the E55.

Like I said, DO NOT WORRY AT ALL about the so called reliability of the E. It is damn reliable and safe.

Look around at some dealers, you might be able to get a brand new one for a hell of a deal. If you dont mind me asking, what part of the US are you in?
