MB E-Motion Event in NY

I went to the MB Emotion event today and oh my oh my!
The new E Class is all it was cracked up to be. I did a few donuts in the parking lot with a friend and she didnt even flinch because the car is that stable. Anyway, I drove both the E320 and E500 and both felt great - powerwise, however the E500 was simply fast..... very fast.
There was a bit of lag to change gears but thats probably because the guy driving before me was an old guy. Once i had the car for about 2 more minutes, it was gone.
Then the fun began.

The growl of the V8 will make that of the 430 engine seem weak and high strung while the interior still insulates you from road noise so i was at about 70mph in a short time. Almost immediately i saw a cop and hit the brakes... P.S. Be Carefull with the nrew Brake by wire. I was thrown forward in my seat as the car slowed down to a crawl just in time for the cop to see me cruise by.

Anyway... i am gonna go figure out how i can afford an E500 in 3 years..... hmmmmm any ideas?

Thanks for the feedback on your first hand experience. The more I hear the more I'm convinced I made the right decision to purchase my E500.

Got to drive the E500 for about 5 minutes... per trip.
The E320 was for a little longer
You can take as many trips as you please; depending on the line of people waiting for the trip.
All in all, they had about 10 cars there some with the Panaromic sun roof an option that is well worth its price: In my opinion.

By the way, the Airmatic suspension is < austin powers voice > groovy baby </ austin powers voice >

cool, first dont uy that c-class, i would settle for a corolla right now. Also, i honestly thnik the panorama roof is a piece of ****!. i checked it out on a c230 at my dealer, and god, how ugly it was thre was a little spoiler in the front, and it doesnt follow te lines of the car, als, the inside is just little rollers, howstupid, talk about having anm accident wth them open. The glass canb just fall through the front and back. It isnt worth giving up the regular monroof, and harmon kardon

I ordered the E500 with the pano room AND the Harmon sound system so you don't have to give up the great tunes. I think the glass roof will be very cool. To each their own.

When I went to the 2001 Powertrip here in Atlanta last year, I received a commemorative baseball cap as a souvenir for participating. Are there any such goodies with the 2003 E-Motion???

I think it would help if you didn't type using incomplete sentences. It would help you get your point across.

Agreed. Better spelling and typing would be a big plus too!

Cool

E-Motion was informative, but PowerTrip 2001 was much better. The tent features were pretty cool, especially the massage and the Sony displays ($10,000 for an entertainment system, a little steep). It would have been nice if they could have found a closed track to play with these cars some. I went on Sunday, and by then the Tarrytown Police were on to the new E drivers. There were at least 3 cars patrolling the short 2.5 mile stretch of roadway so I didn't even think about going over that horrible 30mph speed limit in the E500. It was also slow going with the E320 on the closed castle course as well.
The cars are beautiful, but I love my C too much to even think about it right now. Maybe in 3-5 years when I have racked up a severe amount of mileage and funds I will take a second look at the Es.
PowerTrip was more fun because more information was provided about the cars and their features. At E-Motion we learned about the brake-by-wire system, no mention of a possible navigation system, or the now standard tele-aid system. It would have been nice to have some drivers around to do a hot-lap in these cars.
By the way, they did give out a goody bag, including another baseball cap, but no e-motions embroidery on it.
Overall it was a nice experience.
