'08 AM Vantage V8 - '03 E500
Probably the '04 E320, assuming that both cars had similar miles/year accumulated., unless the extra power (which you can seldom legally use) is a major factor. The E320 had sufficient power; the E500 has more than sufficient power and worse gas mileage. The E500 also has air suspension, full leather and four-zone climate control, but (a) I suspect that an E320 rides and handles about as well as an E500; (b) most people can't tell the difference between full and partial leather, and (c) how often do you have rear-seat passengers? In addition, the '04 will have a more advanced COMAND, including the ability to use the iPOD integration kit. The '03 can't do that.
It's gospel here that '03s are less reliable than '04 and later models, but my '03 has been pretty reliable so far, so I'm not singing from that hymnal just yet.

Personally, I would wait until you could find a 2004 or early 2005 E500 to your liking...but if horsepower isn't a factor in your search, just get the 2004 E320.
