Need Help about Air Suspension.

I couldn't get much help from the Benzworld forums so hopefully someone can help me out here.

Well I have a 2003 E Class(w211), anyways do any of you know the exact functions what the air suspension will or can do? When someone sits in the car does the suspension balance it off buy pumping in more air on the other side so the car is not tilted? The reason I ask was because my suspension has been modified before and lately I noticed that the gap between the tires and the fender between left and right side is different. Somtimes it aligns perfect and sometimes the left or right doesnt matter which side may be off by half an inch. The road is perfectly flat btw. Also sometimes when the car is in slow speeds or parked I noticed that the suspension lowers the car about an inch more is it normal? The front seems to do that more than the back though.

I'm not sure if it's normal, but it's a common characteristic on airmatic equipped cars. My driver's side sits half an inch lower than the passenger side on some occasion, but it doesn’t bother me as much anymore. Here are some other discussions:

Wow

I didn't realize so many people have had problems with Airmatic. All three threads are a bit old and they all seem to have stopped without news of a conclusion. Has this issue been tracked down to a cause and resolved for good?
