1st testdrive new facelifted E-class

Hi everyone,
Last night I test drove the new E220CDI. Judging from outside the changes are really minor, which is good news for us who own the current model We won't feel as if we are driving around in an old car. From inside there are also some changes, the steering wheel is hideous to look at (borrowed from the clk) and the elegance version now has ugly seats compared to the 2006 model, anyway that’s a personal matter of taste.
The real news was the updated engine, which now has 170HP. Engine noise is still the same but it has much more torque. Acceleration is also much better and the car actually feels very fast. Official 0-100km/h is 8.6sec, which is a good improvement.
All in all compared to the 2006 model it didn’t feel that different, only the engine felt stronger

Did you happen to notice...

If they finally fixed the memory preset scanning on the steering wheel?
Current W211's don't scan through the presets (they scan to the next /previous strongest signal).

Thx for any input.

Well, I certainly agree with you about the steering wheel. I'll keep my 2004 E320 with the reliable 5G transmission and more simple engine. Besides, I've got lots of amenities that have since been removed (although most of them don't work ).

Steering wheel

Supremely ugly. Why do the ******bean counters win? You just know someone said, " Hey, we can save money by using the C class steering wheel". Maybe someday Benz can be like GM and build about 45 cars on the same chassis.
