Need help with correct operation of A/C..06'E350 Please...
You will note of previous thread on trouble with the a/c in my 06' E350.
Sometimes the center vents on the dash close off and do not work when the a/c is in auto mode. This usually happens when driving down the freeway. At this point I switch it to manuel mode and adjust the system to get air from the center dash vents. I believe this should work. But, I still do not get air from the center vents.....
My dealer is telling me that there is nothing wrong with the A/c on this car and that this is the way it is designed to operate.
How many of you have a system that works in this way?
How many of you have center vents that shut down when the A/C system is in auto?
How many of you have center vents that shut down when the A/C system is in manuel?
Any help from the crowd is greatly appreciated!
I will add that the exterior temperature is between 85 and 100 degrees. Low humidity.

Its big and Grey!
In auto mode, it is just that. Auto, the car decides where and how to turn on the vents and how high to turn on the AC. No worries.

Hi
I have had my W211 for three years now and I have never experienced this, why should your center vent go off when driving on the freeway?? Yes it automatically adjusts the vents in automode but i doesnt turn them completely off. Sorry to say but I think your dealer is giving you a shaggy dog story.
A guess would perhaps be a defective duo-valve? Good luck with your car.

I have a W210 (E430 4Matic) which also suffered similar erratic a/c operation. The dealer replaced the climate control vacuum valve, which opens and closed the various ducts and everything has worked perfectly since.

I have a 2006 e350. In the auto mode (when it is 105 outside) I get alot of
air out of the center vents. If I switch to manuel mode I have very little
air coming out of the center vent. The air comes mostly out of the side vents. Dearler says "everything is working fine". I would think that the auto and manuel system would work the same when trying to cool the car down after sitting in the AZ. sun for a few hours. It seems to cool better using the auto mode. If I have the fan on all the way in manuel I do not get the same air flow out of the center vents. Any words of wisdom?
