That is $66k without Nav and glass roof? Those 2 options will push the E500 to $70k. Whew! Could have had an E55! I really believe/speculate that the next E55 will base around $73k sans Nav and Glass Roof.

I'm still betting the E55 is $85K. My reasoning is that I could almost afford 75K - life never works out that way, so it will be more.

W211 E55 prices elsewhere seem to be about 10% more than last year.

i might of not made perfect sense, but my e500 has 6cd, E2, rear blinds, rear sun, parktronic, and key-less-go, and of couse gass guzzler. I got a moonroof.....but i didnt like the panorama roof. Come on guys.......there are roller blinds on the top. It wouldn't fit well in a top luxury car. I also didn't like the idea of that horrible spoiler, and how the side of the car looks very un-aerodynamic with it open......but that is just my opinion......what about yours andylien.....where are your post for the prices, or a post where you detailed all the diffenences between the 2 cars, or trying to answer as many questions you can about the car. God damn man, you do work with mbz......right?? Age has nothing to do with cars, we all love them right.................

jswedberg, lets hope not...

i too am trying to be optimistic about the E55 pricing. but if the trends continue as they are, my guess is it will start at around 71K.

Question Price list

At what point will the new prices be listed officially on some web based site? I still see the same old 'Explore the new E' at MBUSA.COM. If someone does have access to prices for options, could they list them or tell us where to find them?

Definately great news that the base price for the E320 is lower by about 2K. Of course, that is mainly going to be eaten up by now having to order full leather as an option. It could have been worse - they could have kept the base price unchanged and still charged extra for leather!

Also, a week or so back, didn't someone say they would scan in the new full brochure?

Thanks.

Barney

Thanks Beltfed. Since my car is to be delivered in October, I'll be paying the lux tax unless I don't take the car then and buy one early next year instead. I heard the gas guzzler tax may be going away too. Have you heard that and is it certain that it applies to the E500?

Hey bmms8,

Unlike you, other people have other things to do. We all have to make a living. We will just leave the posting to younger folks like you.

I found out about the prices last night, because it was posted on Netstar last night. When I got in this morning, you have already posted it anyways. Good job to you ! We all owe it to you to keep us informed on all mb.

Btw, is the E500 yours or your parents ???

I won't be getting mine till late next month, so you will definitely get to enjoy yours earlier than mine.

bmms8,

geez man, those are harsh words. I feel bad now that I graduated from Cal Poly. I also feel bad for everyone in this Forum that has graduated from Cal Poly. I guess it seems to you that people that graduated from Cal Poly can't afford a Benz.

A smart guy like you should go far in life. Everyone here and I in this forum wish you the best of luck in your studies and your career.

Thanks for all the info that you have provided, we all appreciate the time and effort that you put into this forum.

jago1244 gets credit for this one. just to supplement what bmms8 already stated:

here's a quick cut and paste of story

BN 15:04 Mercedes Reduces U.S. Base Price for New E-Class Car (Update1)

Mercedes Reduces U.S. Base Price for New E-Class Car (Update1)

(Adds background on new E-Class, competitors starting in
fifth paragraph. Updates share price.)

Los Angeles, Aug. 20 (Bloomberg) -- DaimlerChrysler AG's
Mercedes-Benz reduced the U.S. starting price of the new E-Class
sedan $1,500, or 3.1 percent, as the third-largest U.S. luxury-
vehicle brand seeks to gain on rivals.
The redesigned 2003 E-320 sedan will begin at $46,950, down
from $48,450 for the previous model, said David Schembri, U.S.
vice president of marketing for Mercedes. The new sedan, which
goes on sale Monday, adds features such as electronic braking,
Schembri said in a telephone interview from Los Angeles.
Mercedes, which provides most of DaimlerChrysler's profit
while the Chrysler and Freightliner units try to end losses, is
vying with Bayerische Motoren Werke AG and Toyota Motor Corp.'s
Lexus for the 2002 U.S. luxury-sales lead. This year through July,
BMW sold 136,825 cars and light trucks, followed by Lexus at
135,847 and Mercedes at 117,864, according to Autodata Corp.
The new E-Class ``is an important product because it's high
volume and high price,'' said Prudential Securities Inc. analyst
Michael Bruynesteyn, who rates DaimlerChrysler a ``hold'' and
doesn't own the shares. ``The biggest question is whether they cut
costs enough because their margins have been slipping overall.''
Mercedes will have 2,200 of the new sedans available for sale
in the first week and expects to ship 5,000 in September, Schembri
said. The company expects to sell 50,000 of the new version next
year, he said. Pricing for the new E500 sedan, the most expensive
E-Class model, starts at $54,850, Schembri said.
Competitors include the BMW 5-series, which ranges from
$36,595 to $55,845, and Lexus models that cost from $32,080 for ES
models to $47,980 for a GS 430, according to Edmunds.com, a Web
site that track vehicle prices.
BMW and Lexus are expected to finish the year with U.S. sales
of about 248,000 cars and trucks each, with Mercedes at 226,600,
auto forecasting company DRI-WEFA estimates.
Stuttgart, Germany-based DaimlerChrysler's U.S. shares fell
$1.20 to $45.71 at 3:01 p.m. in New York Stock Exchange composite
trading. The shares have risen 9.7 percent this year.

Thanks for the info jamesp. I/we can now more accurately 'guesstimate' that the 2004 E55 will be very close to the outgoing models base price around $71 or 72k. I have been speculating $73k without glass roof. My next speculation will be that DVD Nav will be standard on the E55.

that sounds about right KEV. that is encouraging news. for a loaded e500 you may be looking at around 60-62k. for an extra 10k you can have 170+ more horses. Hmmm, let me start saving now!

It isn't loaded to get to that amount. Don't forget gas guzzler tax, sales tax, luxury tax, and a base price of almost $55K. Loaded is probably closer to $75K.
