New 2005 E320 Wagon Pricing

My dealer has a new 2005 wagon that I like and I don't know what price I should be shooting for. With 2007 not too far off and incentives out for 2006 what kind of discount should I be looking for on a new 2005? The sticker price is $53,000.

Given the fact that you can now buy a new 2006 E350 in the late 40s I would not pay more than 42-43K. If you can get it for 40K I think it's a good deal. In a few months when the 2007 models are out I think this car will be worth only about 40K.

Ok we are getting closer....

So We have gone from $46,995 to 42,125 from what was actually $56,000 not 53,000. I have been going back and forth on the internet. So I am making some headway. I think I can get them down a little farther...if they throw in the Ipod Integration kit and give me a deal on an extended warranty then I think we will be set.

I am going to go in there tomorrow and deal with this in person. I would have to think they are ready to get that 2005 off of their lot.

Nice work. You are definitely getting to where you should be. Try to pay as close to $40-41K as you can. That is not an unreasonable offer. Yes, work the IPOD integration kit and the extended warranty into the deal by perhaps paying a bit more. If you don't plan to put a lot of miles, go for the 7 year 100K warranty. I regret once getting the 6 year 100K warranty. Good luck and let us know how it turns out and also let us know what kind of a deal they made for the extended warranty and the IPOD kit.

Done Deal

So the final sales price ended up $41,000. That was the best I could seem to do. I think it was an ok deal for a new 2005 E-wagon. I really like the Platinum Blue but that stone leather is going to be crazy hard to keep clean. But at least it won't get so hot. I think that the 320 has plenty of power and I am getting used to the "floatyness"...coming from a c-class sport it just feel different.

I also got Dealer cost for an extended warranty and $1,000 more for my trade than I thought they would gor for. So it ended up being about $15,000 off the sticker price.

The only thing I miss so far that isn't on my new E that was on my C is navigation. I have no sense of direction. I suppose an aftermarket product would work...I will have to look into it.

Those windows need some tint ASAP it is too bright in the cabin right now.

Normally cars 2 years old based on MY are considered used. I hope you made sure that the stealer's statement of new didn't have the warranty backdated as in having placed it into service for some reason.

No, we went over how that worked and how MB gave them money to help them sell the car and as a result the warranty clock had already been started. I was ok with that, but I would have been pissed if they hadn't told me.

The warranty started in January of 2006 so I am 6 months short on my warranty and that is part of the reason I got more for my trade and when my next service interval comes do they will take care of that.

I think I will have more than enough warranty for my needs though.

Congratulations! Please let us know what the dealer cost for the warranty was. Also let us knnow if you went for the 6 year or 7 year warranty. Enjoy your car!

BTW you can always add the Mercedes Navigation system to your car. You need to get the drive box that goes in the trunk of your car and i think it costs a little over $1,000. I too have a bad sense of direction and consider Navigation and eseential fefature to have.
