Why is this wagon such a big deal for everyone?
So I traded in my C230 sport sedan for the E320 wagon and now everyone that I work with acts like I pulled up in a spaceship. Granted I am in a smaller town, but I am from CA where you see just about everything.
I think they were all in love with my C230k more than I was! The C230k was fun but I think the wagon suits me better. Smoother, just as fast and it feels more solid. This is my third and favorite Mercedes.
I know it is an odd thing for a man to want to drive a wagon but is it really that big of a deal? Is this just an American thing?
Of all the cars that I have had this has got to be my favorite I guess I am just a wagon kind of guy...but everyone thinks I'm nuts.
I like my "soccer mom mobile" so F$%K em!

I don't see the point of a wagon these days but I've come to the terms that to each their own...
If its you, its you so don't let others get to ya...

You may be misinterpreting the reaction of your co-workers.
Are you sure that they're taking your wagon to be girlie-man wheels, and dissing you for it? It could be that they are treating your wagon like a "spaceship" because traditional wagons of any kind are rare these days, and luxury wagons are even rarer. They may even admire it, and why not? It's an E-Class Mercedes, after all.
It isn't odd at all for a man to like driving a wagon, now that the "soccer mom" market has moved on to vans and SUVs. The station wagon can return to its British origins as an "estate car" or "shooting brake", something that the proper country gentleman uses to putter around his estate in, or take the other chaps grouse-hunting in.
... and if your co-workers really are disrespecting you because of your wagon, F$%K 'em!

Don't be concerned about other people's reactions to the wagon. I love my "truck". I can by fertilizer, sand, bricks, shrubs, etc. I bought 30 bags of mulch and the fellow asked whether I was going to put them on the roof. He was amazed when I got them all in and asked him if he thought I might have enough room for 5 more. I have bought a couple of clear plastic chair mats and cut them to fit the load area and the back seat back when it is down. I also bought some clear vinyl carpet protector and have it on the sides and seat cushion for protection. I don't use my bike roof rack; I just throw the bike in the back and I am off to the ride.
I have an '03 W211 sedan and the '00 W210 wagon and prefer to drive the wagon most of the time.

I can't speak for others but my two wagon e320's were my favorite. I can't explain why i love them? Maybe its the practicality or body shape or the sheer room on the inside? They were and remain my favorite MB's and everytime i see one i want to trade in my current sedan.

Wagons have lower centers of gravity while providing similar space to that of a mid size SUV. They're made to haul families around on the road.
Too bad they're dying out.

I love my 2001 wagon 4matic. No problem or embarassment. I prefer it to my E500 4matic sedan but that is a rocket ship and also a great car

You can also be proud of the fact that E-Wagon owners are among the highest demographic for all MB models. The S124 was a beatiful design and one of my favorites but S211 is an absolutely fantastic design.
I love the way that MB doesn't simply graft a box on the back of their sedans but even changes the rear door sheetmetal to acheive a totally integrated look.
Sit back and appreciate!
