Satellite Displays "Searching For Signal" but Plays The Channel Anyway

On my early '04 which had Satellite installed as soon as the kits became available...
When I start the car in the morning the COMAND display shows "Searching For Signal", even though the MFD shows the proper channel number AND the unit plays the last listened to Sat channel. The only way I can clear this display is by switching between Sat and Map or Sat and FM, and then back again at which time the display on COMAND shows the proper info. This usually happens only after the car has been sitting parked for a long while, but it is getting more frequent.

I remember someone posting a dealer fix for this but can no longer find it. Any suggestions? When the car is at the dealer, of course it works right.

P-B-82.85/444 APR05 Satellite Radio Improper Operation, model 211 2004 or later.

“Acquiring Signal” is displayed for the entire ignition cycle after starting the vehicle and/or bleed through of satellite radio audio into your phone call while using the in vehicle hands free phone system.

SDARS control unit, if part # is A220 820 17 97 Q05 or lower replace. If higher contact the Enhanced Diagnostic Assistance Center (EDAC). Satellite Radio Control Unit (USA) Part # B6 783 0085. This DTB may have been revised since APR05 nevertheless reference it as your starting point.

Have the same problem, car going in the shop next tuesday to have the unit replaced with part B6 783 0085. I have the A- series which has numerous flaws in it. Also have the ignitor for my left Xeon being replaced whatever reason that crapped out on me too.

Right on, I was involved with the initial problems with the SDAR control unit. The Q part number is the one that was used on the Maybach also. Definite fix. Mostly saw that issue on the 209/203.

Got the car back from the shop, new ignitor for the bi-xeons and they raplaced the old satellite with B6 783 0085. The new part did not fix the problem with regards to acquiring signal and I have also had the antenna replaced. Am I just to assume that Sirius radio has horrible reception?

I did take the headliner down from the trunk and noticed that the antenna has two cables coming out of it, only one is connected though. Should there be a splitter of sorts that connects them into one for the receiver?. Not sure where to turn next but to just cancel the service until more repeaters are deployed.

There is a SDARS splitter part # B6 783 0058. The antenna (i.e.: B6 783 080 0 - black) lead should be connected to the jack of the splitter. The two splitter leads should be connected to the like color jacks on the SDARS control module on the right side of the trunk.
