2007 E320 BlueTec Build Date

My dealer called me today with news that my ordered 2007 E320 BlueTec had moved into "build " status. He told me that meant the car would start to be manufactured in 14 days or so, although the anticipated delivery date remained some time in October.

This is correct. No MY07 diesels are possible for sale until the (ULSD) fuel reaches approximately 80% of the diesel gas stations. This is mandated by the gov't.

I knew the October (at the earliest) delivery date going in. What I find interesting is the long lead time from building the car to delivery.

I sure hope the 20% without the low sulfur diesel are not all in my area!

The build to delivery time is not too unreasonable, 1 1/2 to 2 months seems about normal to me anyway. OMG, Please don't rush the end of my Summer, you just made me realize how close October really is!

BTW, I really like the value of the '07's. Depending on how you equip them, there can be quite an advantage over the '06's.

I forgot, "Build" status might not mean "put the thing together now". More likelly it means "specifications fixed, no change to equipment level possible, load the parts on the line, and then build".
