Wheel, Spacer, Fitting Problems - Any help?
So I put the H & R's on and now the center bore of the wheel is too small and does not clear the lip of the spacer. So now what?
I see it as I have two options. 1) find a space that does not have a lip on them, but I need a 10mm so, I believe that is possibly out of the question? 2) re bore the wheel to clear the spacer? I don't even know if they do that?
I know what you are thinking, I should of just bought the right wheels, and boy do I wish I did........
Any help is greatly appreciated.......
Thanks !
Ed
Kidding aside:
I think you are having the same problem I did about a year ago when I was running replica wheels and wanted spacers to push the fronts out just a bit...in my case the replica wheels would have fit just fine without the spacers however the offset wasn't quite right and to my eye the fronts were tucked in too far so I wanted to run spacers.
Bought H&R from evosport and when they came in they would not sit flush to the hub due to the center bore (sounds like this is the same problem you are having) I think in the end evosport ended up boring out the center of the spacers to make them work..cant remember for sure but they did take the time to make them work and in the end they went on the car. I would call Mike at evosport (Huntington Beach, CA)...and ask him what the fix would be.
If you do get the spacers on make sure you check them every 6 months or so for rust...every time I've used H&R (I'm sure others are the same)...when I've gone to remove them they have been rusted (from mild to quite bad) making removal very difficult...this has been the case on 2 BMW's and even with the Benz when I went to remove them...the spacer had to be broken off just to get it off the car (again due to the fact that it had basically rusted itself to the hub....a real f-ing mess). I thought maybe this was just a BMW thing (you know being the cheap cars that they are...just kidding)...with the type of metal that they used relative to the material that the spacer was made of...but when I saw the same on the Benz, I knew that wasn't the case.
Balancing is also an issue...much more difficult with spacers.
I know what is done is done however you may want to consider cutting your loses and getting a wheel that does not need spacers
