My cup holder on 2003 e-500 will not open. any little tricks to help so I want have to go to dealer over 100 miles away?

You mean, nothing happens when you press the little silver bar on the right side of the cupholder unit? Have you checked that nothing, such as the console door, is physically blocking the cupholder from folding out?

The manual says that the cupholder unit can be removed for cleaning but, regrettably, it has to be open to be removed.

the little door opens but the little flip up thingy will not open. i have tried to push silver buttom thousand times it's just stuck.

You've got nothing to lose by pushing the silver button & pulling up on the cup holder with the silver button depressed. (You know how it unfolds). Maybe a little soda/coffee spilled & has dried & hardened.

If you break it.... well... its already broken, isnt it?

The cup holder can be replaced and here's the part number: A 211 680 00 14

Your dealer should replace this for free if car is still under warranty. If close to the warranty date, but not over, give them a call and tell them about the problem and see if you can't arrange for them to repair it the next time you bring the car in for service. I wouldn't drive 200 miles round trip for just that repair. Assuming you have a "good relationship" with one of the SA's, they should accomodate your request.

not surprise about the cupholder. Cuz my broke, it won't close, when i flip it down, there was a spring inside it broke. So I got it replaced under warranty
