2007 E550 ??

The mbusa website says the 2007 E550 has shift buttons for the transmission behind the steering wheel. The brochure does not mention this as far as I can tell. I have driven the car but did not notice it. Can any one confirm that the car has the shift buttons who has seen the car.

Also I am not talking about the shift paddles of the E63.

Thanks for the help

The 2007 S550 has fingertip shift buttons behind the steering wheel because it doesn't have a gearshift lever on the console with which to select gears manually. The 2007 CLS550 doesn't mention shift buttons on the MBUSA site, and it has the same steering wheel as the 2007 E-Class. I am guessing the website is incorrect.

Sport package

If you get the sport package, you get shift paddles in the E and CLS. No sport package, no paddles.

I saw the car today the E550 has no shift buttons on the steering wheel, even with the sport package.
Also I asked MBUSA about the website and they said the web site is mistaken and will be fixed. In the US the only 2007 E with paddle shift is the E63

Very Anxious!!

We leave Sept 2nd see the MB museum on the 3rd and pick up the car on the 4th ,leave on black forest rally package which ends in Munich drop car off and then we change hotels in Munich to a cheaper one but is also within walking (or stumbling )distance from the Hofbrauhaus. Then take a train to Prague and then fly home. I am very excited to get my hands on that car. However it just occurred to me last week that since this will be the wife's car her car will have more horsepower than mine ( C32 AMG ), there is something so wrong with that. Maybe I will just have to get a C63 when they come out yeah thats the ticket!!! Anyway cyclerider did your car require any breakin. And how are you enjoying it. Also do you have bluetooth in it.

Thanks
Steve

I'm still waiting for my car to be built. I don't expect to have it until late Sept./early Oct. The only person I know of who has taken delivery of an E550 is matt55, who lives in North Carolina. He hasn't posted since the day he got his, which I think was July 29th. I was hoping to read a full report from him on the forum but he is probably too busy driving it to sit down and write.

I am still undecided about bluetooth. I have a Motorola E815 which is one of the few phones that can use a cradle, so I may go that route. At least I don't have to decide until the car arrives, because the cradle and bluetooth modules are both sold in the parts department at the dealership.

I read that post and enjoyed it. Your Flint gray color was my first choice, but the CEO of my household (wife) wanted silver. Do you have any photos to post?

Thanks for confirming the lack of shift buttons. I was sure that was a misprint on the MBUSA website.

M-B is recommending the same as before - Easy for first 1,000 miles and use "C" mode on transmission. Of course, if you are leasing

MBUSA really needs to get their website together. The E63 AMG Sedan on the E-Class "Overview" pages says it has a 507hp SUPERCHARGED V8. Wrong.
