Buying Lease Turn-ins from MBUSA

OK - dumb question...

Do you need to be a dealer to buy a lease turn-in directly from MBUSA ?

A lease return is either sold by the dealer that received the car back, or sent to a dealer auction...so that would be a yes.

Or, you can get a buddies dealer number and go to the auction and get it.
I used to use my friends all the time. only difference is he had to cut the check. Actually, come to think of it I think i had a fake ID with his name so I could use it or something.

Good luck. Getting a lease returned MB at wholesale ain't a bad way to go.

Back a few years ago MB employees would leave their name, number, and car model with the receptionist when it was time to sell their cars. The employee program used to be based on an 18-month balloon payment and one could often profit a bit by selling rather than turining the car back in.

This program is gone and now we all just lease because the employee rates can't be ingnored. We also no longer have the option of buying the car at the end of the lease and we must turn them in.

MBUSA does run employee "Friends and Family" purchase plans about twice a year. The early Summer one is over but there will most likely be another program at year's end.

To participate, you'll have to make contact with an MBUSA employee who'll get you a control number.

What kind of deal is offered with that plan? With the Vance, AL plant nearby, there are plenty of MB employees in this area!

Silver Star Motors in Dallas buys and resells MBUSA lease turnins. Their prices seem quite reasonable.

I'm not sure about Vance. It's a separate DCAG daughter company (MBUSI) than MBUSA. The MBUSA plan typically runs at a 12.5% discount from retail. If you can't find a friend at MBUSI, make friends with one of their supplier's staff (good idea for MBUSA too) since they are usually tight with someone inside the DCAG empire.

There's probably about 4 month's till the next program, plenty of time to go out and make some new friends!

It may depend on who you know and what type of lease you are asking about? Individual or fleet?

I once bought a Saab 9000 fleet lease return directly through Saab USA (referred by a friend of the family) but they completed the transaction through a dealer.
