So, unlike the guy in the Jetta TV ad, you didn't stake your claim to an '07 by personalizing the door handle? I'm with you on the new style. The grille just says "Cadillac" to me, not to mention that it requires bending a front license plate, and the rear didn't really need a bigger slab of chrome. But maybe I'm just jealous.

Valid points on the looks as they are subjective. However, the better value in additional standard equipment plus a free sport package are hard to argue. I also like Pre-Safe being on my side just in case I were ever to need it.

I remember the outcry from the W220 fans when the W221 came out last year. You would have thought the new S-Class was the ugliest car on the planet. The E-Class "facelift" is very minor, and I doubt most people will even notice the difference. The real beauty of the '07 is beneath the skin.

Very true, well said. No one likes to see a Benz get replaced or updated. People are just going to have to get used to it, because MB can't go 10 years between changes now.

Not only is the Sport package growing on me with the nice 18's and the exhaust but with the PremII package you still come in a few K less than my car with more cool stuff like Sat radio, DVD nav, and the upgraded sound system. Now that won't get you airmatic suspsension, but that just means a nice set of springs/coilovers will get it looking Right!!

Because of this post, I went down and took a look at the 07 E the other night (not that it takes much to get me to go to my MB dealer!).

I like the new one. The changes are subtle but nice. I agree about the bent license plate. That's going to look like crap no matter what. They should have at least made the part where the plate attaches straight by building a wedge shaped license plate frame. That would look cheese-y also but better than a bent plate.

There are some nice changes option wise too but also some nice features you CANNOT get with certain models. The 1st level premium package comes with the pre-wire for the phone. That used to be a $1500 option. Same thing for Satellite radio. That used to be a $600 option (from memory). That's nice . . but you can't get the air conditioned seats in the CDI (or it's Bluetec now, whatever). You can't get the sport package either and I LOVE the wheels on the sport package.

There's enough there for me to pass on the 06 (even with the super discounts and financing) and wait for the 07. Of course I think I'm really waiting for the ML320CDI anyway but that's another story!
