01 CLK430 cab, Silver/Ash/Blk top: 2003 E500 On order Silver/Ash, Sport package
Yes all that for $275. That is the package that I ordered with my E500 back in May and it is ETA Oct 1, 2002. After seeing a 320 brilliant silver with charcoal interior with the E3 package I am not sure if I like the look of the black maple in this car. I currently have it in my 01 CLK430 cab and love the look but not sure about the E. However I guess that my wife and I will learn to like it since it should be here within a month or so.
Also the E3 package has emblems above the molding on the front bumbers which indicate SPORT and also the brushed aluminum shift knob has SPORT spelled out in black.

one thing to look at is the wheels on the sport package.
according to the brochure and the MB web page. standard E500 wheels are dual five spoke 8.5J x 17 yet the wheels on the "better" sports package are mono five spoke 8.0J X 17.
it just seems like htey got it backwards on the wheels. what am I missing?
maybe they shuffled some costs around to make it look like a better deal than it really is.

For some unknown reason, MB has stopped including AMG styling on the E Class Sport Option in the US. This really takes away from a sport look about the car. I am hoping for the day that you can order the AMG styling package and AMG wheels from the factory. The cost of these items as an aftermarket option are 2-3 three times what they cost in Europe from the factory.

I don't think so because: 1) the AMG package has been and is available in Europe, 2) MB pictures of the upcoming E55 show different wheels, 3) most other Sport Packages for US models utilize the AMG body styling and wheels, and 4) the E55 is more of a company image car than a profit center since only sereral thousand are produced each year for worldwide sales. Some people have said MB did not sell that many E Sport Options in the past and so they had to lower its price. I think they did not sell many Sport Options in the past because the stopped including AMG Wheels after 1998. In otherwords, the Sport Option was not that different after 1998.

The only logical reason that I can think of as to why MB stopped the AMG sport package is because of its lack of popularity......it was a $4k+ visual package on MB midline car, very few customers opted for it.
Its still offered on the S, CL, SL, because more people are willing to spend the extra money who buy these models.
