new 2007 E550 pricing

Hello all, wife's getting her 07' E550 the next week or so, car at port 9/7 says the dealer... just wondering, for those that have purchased/leased an 07' E350/550 already, was there any room for negotiation on the pricing or is it strictly MSRP? I know they are running some specials on the 06's, but they keep telling me that it's not available for the 07 model... they just BS'ing me or am I hoping for too much? Thanks for the input!

Don't you know how to negotiate and visit/contact more than 1 dealer? You already ordered the car - sounds like you already agreed to a price. You must learn to negoiated before you order a car and not after it is ordered.

Too late to grow ******** now!

I'd be willing to bet that in about 6-8 months they'll be back to invoice pricing (m)

The E550 is a great car, but simply not worth MSRP. Take 10K off and that's more in line with its true worth, at least IMO.
Remember when the E500 first came out? They were selling at MSRP. 1 year later: Not so much. Invoice was the rule. I imagine history will likely repeat itself once the newness wears off. Remember, this is a 4 yr old design.

Just about anything in life is negotiable. If you don't know how to negotiate, it's never too late to learn. A couple of months ago, I was interested in getting a 2007 model Corvette. Most Chevy dealers don't even get any allocation so if I were to talk to them, it would be a waste of time, and those dealers get a couple of cars a year, they will never give away any discounts. I joined a very popular Vette forum and learned that some of the internet dealers(big volume sellers) were giving thousand of dollars off! They can arrange for courtesy delivery, at a small charge, to your local dealer! My point is negotiation and other things in life are a learning process. If we search around enough, we will find the answer.

Thanks for the advice. I have one ******* with two *****... I am glad that's still considered normal! We ordered the car already because we were going to return the old lease and pick up the new car at the same time... however, the timing could not be coordinated, we had to turn in the lease early but we already ordered the car. We have not negotiated yet. I don't know how it works at your dealers but here, we order the car and the final deal "pricing" is done when the car is here. I think that's because the cars we have ordered all have been new models, so they all don't know what the exact price is when we order. The 2007 E550 is a new model with new packages, so the pricings were not available to the dealers until a few weeks ago when the first shipments arrived. I ordered the car two months ago, not even MSRP was known for the base model... so, just wondering if anyone on the forum has been able to negotiate below sticker price for this model... if so, I'll give it a shot. If not, I'll still give it a shot but with less hope of success. I am going to try to email some other dealers around here to get quotes. What I don't like is that they require your phone number... don't want them pestering me all day...
So, please, if anyone bought an 07', let me know how your negotiations went and if you need three ***** or ******** to do it!

RE:E550 Pricing

I inquired with the sales guys at my dealer about trading up to an E550 Sport last week while in for service, and they were trying to get MSRP.

However the car I was interested in was at another dealer and they did not have anything close colorwise in stock. I told them thanks but no thanks unless they were willing to do at least $4500 off. I am pretty sure that if I had shown interest in an in stock unit they would have been more flexible.

I am confident that in 3 or 4 months the deals will get much better, and am perfectly content to enjoy my E500 until then. Heck, I may just wait for the redesign in 2009 unless the deals get REALLY good....the 550 is better, but not that many deneros better than my 500.

If you ordered, you should know what your price is going to be at delivery, and probably can't do much to change it. Good luck, and let us know how you like the car.

"Trying to get MSRP"?? Yeah, good luck. I like the E550, but it is NOT worth MSRP.

Come back in a few months or so and things will be back at invoice, where they belong. Its a 4 year old car! Geez.... can't say who is dumber, dealers or the idiots that run up w/ cash in hand just to be the first.

Some of us "idiots" have to be willing to buy the cars when they are new so you can find a low mileage one year old used car to purchase at a large discount. That's how you bought your 2004 E500, remember?

Called around and amazingly, found a local dealer willing to go a few hundred over invoice, around 2500 below MSRP on a brand spakin' new "unclaimed" 2007 E550. Does not have the trunk closer the wife wants but hmmm... market softer than I thought. Will use that as ammo when it comes to negotiations.

You miss the point- I agree that someone has to buy them new. In fact, my MB was (m)

the first used car I've ever purchased. All cars I bought before were new. Hey- I may want a new E550 next year.
My point was that dealers take advantage of those wanting to be the first to get something when its just coming out. Buying new isn't the issue. Paying at or over MSRP is. Please accept my apologies if you took offense. None was intended. I merely sought to point out the a car selling at or above MSRP when it comes out can usually be had for thousands less a few months or so later. Example: Some years ago my wife wanted a then newly redesigned Jeep Grand Cherokee. I looked in September ad they wanted MSRP. 4 months later we were at invoice.
Some may not care about that kind of money. I do, hence my post.

Try Costco

Where do you live? I got my car through Costco in So. Cal. Granted it's an '06...but Costco has negotiated rates that are typically below MSRP (often below invoice). If you live in an area with Costco and you're a Costco member you might try to get a quote through them (if you're already a Costco member). It can't hurt (if not...you'll have to decide if the trouble is worth it to you or not).

Granted, you have already ordered the car...but in all likelihood, you can have any dealer acquire the car you ordered (dealers acquire cars from other dealers all the time) and you might be able to get a better rate from another dealer, than the one you ordered from. Or at least have leverage in bargaining with the dealer from which you already ordered.

There's a new E550 on eBay right now for $5500 off sticker. Sounds pretty fair to me. I was around $6500 off on my E350 and was very satisfied with the deal.

Yup. I am waiting till next year. While I like the E550 it is, to me at least, (m)

not worth much above invoice at most, espscially considering the precipitous depreciation it is likely to see.
I'll let the "gotta have it firsts" get theirs and reconsider the issue next spring or fall, depending on end of year deals. Plus, this should allow for any bugs to be (somewhat) worked out.
