Bad rear differential E500 4M
Hi
I have a 2005 E500 4M with 16k miles. A couple of weeks ago the car started whining at any speed above 30mph. Took it to the dealer who diagnosed a bad rear differential which they will replace at no cost.
Did anyone have this problem, it's worrying in a year old car with low mileage.
Any comments?

Have had 2 E Class 4m's and never had a diff problem. I think that you will find that this is very rare and I have not seen mention of this problem on any of the sites as a regular thing.

I had my rear end replaced at about 4K, back in 2004, due to a leaking seal. At the time those seals were not available in the USA or Germany, so they flew in a whole rear.
