In-dash CD changer not orderable yet?

In-dash CD changer not orderable yet?
I visited my dealer yesterday to configure my E500 and I was told they couldn't order the in-dash CD yet.... I told the rep that I understood it was delayed production but the system should should be able to a least accept the order for Oct/Nov delivery... doesn't make sense to me..anyone else been able to order it.?? any views of when available?

I think they are available. I've ordered one and my car apparently has just entered production - called B3 stage in MB terminology. I'm told it will take about 10 weeks for the car to actcually make it over here to my dealer.

its on delay.....but if you think about it.....most cars that ordered it, and are expecting it in oct are gonna come with it...it isnt like they build it and it comes here in 2 days...it takes time..

I think it is a little confusing. Haven't looked at any cars in detail yet at the showroom. I imagine, from other posts, that none have the in dash CD changer yet.
However, if you are ordering a car now or have previously placed an order that is now going into production, the cd changer is being put in in the factory.

yea, if you ordered 6cd, and ot the car w/o it, im pretty sure te dealers will get them as needed for the cars...and put them on for you....yea, my car is coming 1st or 2nd week of oct, and it is on there. Also, i have a quick question.....1st year of teleaid is fore free.....but what about when i get my nav, will it only be for free for about 7-8 months????????????????

The GPS antenae is already on the car, nav or not.
The tele-aid and the nav both use the same GPS antenae. Other than that they are sepaerate. After the first year it is $240 per Year for the tele-aid service. Installing the nav has no effect on tele-aid. Sorry, maybe I am not understanding the question.

sorry....k, lemme try to go slow, im in a hurry all the time, sorry....we are getting our car in oct. Our dvd nav will come in jan or whatever....so by then, the tele-aid service would be used for just say 5 months.....then they put in the nav, and the nav will get satellite messages or whatever....so will we get those messages for a year, or the rest of the free teleaid year?

Unless the new DVD nav has a feature that I am not aware of there are no "satellite messages" coming to the nav system. The Nav disc has a map program of the country, the GPS antenae (sp?) simply tells the nav system where the car is.
The tele-aid is basically a cell phone link to our response center that allows you to contact the dispatchers for help. The $240 is to have the service active and live dispatchers available to help you out. In the tele-aid system the GPs antenae alows us to locate the car in case of emergencies.
Other than the fact that the systems share the GPS antenae they are seperate. You will get a free year of tele-aid. The installation of the nav will have no effect on the tele-aid and vice-versa.

That's right. My car has the in-dash factory installed CD changer and the order was accepted. Delivery is for late October.

Rayscar, my order had the in-dash CD changer as well and the order was accepted. The car arrived with just the single in-dash CD above the screen. I only realised when I wanted to fill it up with multiple CDs but to no avail. However, I have quickly convinced myself that I do not need it...[FONT=times new roman]

kassav you might be screwed, the dealer told me the other day tat if you get teh cd changer from the dealer they will charge you 800 dollars, thats double the amount from the factory, he said that it is cheaper from the factory because they get bigger shipments....just some bs....but tell them you paid 400 for it, and you wont pay 800, only if they bring it up of course

It's all very unusual.
At the Australian launch last week we had about six cars in total and all the 240,320 and 500 cars had the 6 disc CD stacker fitted under the center console panel,as standard equipment.
It's design and function are very impressive.
I wonder why you guys have a delay when we have such a small marketplace for Benz's and have them all fitted?
