BMMS8,

I think you are getting the lights confused with the little lights under both the exterior mirrors that light up at night when required and beam light downwards onto the door and floor.

i dont know, maybe they took it away, but the brochure says...Enviromental lighting of door handles, that means it is always on, just like the overhead lighting....if anyone has the brochure, go to the end of it....the page where it shows the pic of a sport e320 interior..

I think I read that there is lighting under the door handles (inside) as well.

Our dealer also said that we were lucky to get a wooden wheel because they ran out of them for a few months.

i was looking at the brochure, and it said that they had the little lights in the handles, i tried to look in the e320, but couldn't see it....kassav, whenyoure at night, turn on the lights, do you see all four handles glow or anything? ......bmms8
I went through the brochure and it says the same thing. But when reality steps in, it does not glow. Maybe the brochure was translated from a different language.

Kassav, I noticed that your E320 has the sport logo on the sides. I had assumed that they might discontinue this with the new E. Would an E500 Sport have the badges as well?....cjileong
The sports logo comes automatically when you take the sports package (E3) on both the E320 and the E500. It certainly looks good and I will highly recommend the sports package....but again, it is just my personal taste.

Shucks. I always think the sport models look better without those badges. I was hoping the new E would come without them, as do the S and the CL. Oh well...

lovely cars guys...

i also love the sports package, but prefer the burl as opposed to the black birdeye maple. that is my dilemma. do i get the 500 w/sports package or w/o sports package and get the wheel/tire upgrade.

If you hate the black birdeye maple, then you are better off upgrading. Please bear in mind that if the tire/wheel is what you really want on the E500, you will only see a significant difference with the wheel which will be the 5-spoke. If you do not take the sports package you will be missing the extra skirts and the fine trimmings that gives it that extra whoa!!!

I will also suggest you visit a dealership, if you haven't done so already, and look at the black birdeye maple yourself as pictures alone do not really portray what it is.

I prefer the appearance of the lighter wood but the black looks nice too. I don't like the added aluminum (where there used to be wood) in the sports package nor the changes to the instrument cluster (you get white dials on the sports version).

I'd see how much just the wheel upgrade is. That is what I am doing. Also, if you read these boards, and I would agree, the sport grill is not necessarily more sporty than the non-sport. The side skirts are also minimal in my opinion.

i don't hate the black maple at all. in fact i think it gives the car a very exotic look with the right interior (ash). in my case, i will eventually get the charcoal interior. IMHO, with that dark of an interior, the lighter wood accents the car much better. i actually like the white dials, the side skirts, but don't particularly care for the aluminun housing around the shift. i also agree with Barney that the front apron on the sports model isn't as sporty as the non sport version. also, i went to the E-Motion event here in D.C. and saw the sports version on display so i have actually seen the setup. thats how i came to the conclussion that i liked the sport version wheels much better than the split spoke standard wheels.
