Smile got it

I got my E-500 yesterday. What a great Car I love it. It was not the one I ordered but I like it better. Mine did not show up for some reason but they had a cancellation so I took it instead. Like it better than what I ordered. It's a sport with the pano roof. Options where rear sun shade and keyless go. The pano roof is way cool. Sitting in the back and looking at the sky what a treat. Brilliant silver charcoal interior. I had wanted the upgraded sound but o well the standard sounds great so I am pleased. Also the dealer said that when the voice activated phone and the nav system are available I can add them at original cost. HAPPY CAMPER

I'm glad it worked out for you datrader. What happened to the car you ordered? Had your delaer confirmed that it was arriving and then it just didn't show? Did it go to another dealer in error? If so I would think it would not be too difficult to track down. That's scary. I hope none of the rest of us who have cars on order have that happen to us.

I ordered the pano roof. Some posts on this site seem to think it will add a lot of wind noise, or the sun cover for the pano roof looks bad, or when the roof is open it breaks the lines of the car. I don't agree with these opinions and wondered if you had had enough seat time in the car to give us your opinion.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I've gotten a good look at the Pano roof and have one on order. I think the mechanical diaphragms (opaque to block out all light) are great, far superior to the standard sliding piece of plastic that comes with a regular sunroof. I think the rear passengers can also control it directly.

I too saw some posts re incresed wind noise. I think the dealer who said that was making wind himself. That statement was made long before any dealer actually saw a pano roof much less have the chance to drive one. I think they were just speculating. I'd still like to hear what a new owner has to say.

um......actually.....if you are talking about me and my dealer...........they did have a black e320, with a grayish interior...with the pan roof......they were both open...well the rollers were....and it does add noise.....if it is open....i think it would add a lot of noise, just because it isnt going with the same lines......the spoiler is lifted...i didnt pay that much attention, but look at the spoiler and the top of the glass on the windshield...if there is any type of breathing room for the air to pass...if will cause more noise....and if it was closed...the pieces arent that cose to eachother, a lot of air can come in....i didnt drive in it....but my dealer said it does add noise..

Of course there will be wind noicse if the top is OPEN. That fact was missing from previous posts. Your regular sun roof will add noise if it is open too. Anyway hopefullu datrader will post since he is actually living with one and is not getting info second hand or from a quick test drive.

No offense meant. What I mean is that one cannot always get a good feel for something with limited exposure. Sometimes first impressions are wrong. Only with spending time with it under different driving conditions can the pros and cons be fully flushed out. Also everyone is different too. I hope I don't find that I think I will really like this option only to find out that I don't after spending time in the car. The other point is that I don't want to rely on what a dealer told someone or what someone has read about it. I want to hear from someone who is actually living with it in their own car and see what they think. That's what I meant.
