Tax question for CDI.

I noticed on the government website it says 06 CDI does not receive a tax incentive. It says 07 bluetech no incentive but then it says 08 bluetech $1,300. They say the 07 fails emissions but 08 passes....

http://www.aceee.org/transportation/taxcredits06.pdf

Thats the table. Anyone have any idea what change will be made from the 07 to 08 cars?(Possible mistake on the government website?) It would be nice to get a $1,300 credit then it makes the price in favor of the 320 CDI by about $300 in your pocket over buying the gas E350.

Anyone know of any other tax incentives? More specifically if AZ has any? I will continue to search and see if AZ has any but so far no luck.

Great info you dug out there.

Notice the city mileage of the 2007 and 2008 E320 BLUETEC is 31 MPG? Quite an improvement over the 2006.

The 2007 E320 Bluetec has "Bin 8" emissions and the 2008 E320 Bluetec is planned to have "Bin 5" emissions. Bin 5 is what's required for the tax credit.

They didn't yet list the 2008 ML320 Bluetec, R320 Bluetec and GL320 Bluetec, which should also qualify for the credit. And the rumored (not yet confirmed by MB) 2008 S320 Bluetec.

Also, the "trucks" have additional tax incentives, if that matters.

It is expected that the 08s will have the AdBlue urea injection system. This is a fluid that's injected into the exhaust that will break down NOx emissions.

So, the upsides are that you might be eligible for the tax credit, and you're helping out with some environmental issues. The downside is you have to keep adding the AdBlue solution. I'd not expect it to be expensive, but I don't know how it'll be distributed in the US.

What I have heard is that during regular engine oil service the AdBlue canister mounted in the spare wheel well will be updated as well. There's also a plan to make AdBlue available at regular gas stations similar to windshield wiper fluid or Coca-Cola. But I dont expect this until (late) 2008.
