extended warranty question

extended warranty question
I have a couple issues and questions, I was offered an extended warranty from the dealership the price was 4 5 or 6 grand for the 2 3 or 4 year extension. I was stunned it was that much. However I had tried to buy the bluetooth module from them (Fletcher Jones)and the parts guy quoted $510 for something that had a suggested retail of $350. I latter found it from another dealer for $315. Anyway one question can the extended warranty be bought from any dealer, and what are people paying for the various options. Also the rear vents on our E550 barely put out any air at all. My 2002 c class blows cold or hot air much better.
Thanks

The suggested retail price of extended warranty for E-Class are as follows:
+12 months/up to 100,000 total vehicle-accrued miles $2,500
+24 months/up to 100,000 total vehicle-accrued miles $3,200
+36 months/up to 100,000 total vehicle-accrued miles $4,120
These prices are for the original owner only during the first 12 months/12,000 miles of ownership. You can still get the warranty after the first year, but they add a surcharge to these prices. The warranty can be purchased from any M-B dealership, and I have heard that some of them will offer a discount from the above prices. You should call around for quotes.

If you're going to buy an extended warranty, I would recommend a M-B extended warranty and not a third-party extended warranty. Some dealers may offer you different plans; while shopping around one OC dealer offered to sell me a Daimler Chrysler extended warranty. The salesperson explained to me that the Daimler Chrysler extended warranty was about $800-$1000 cheaper than the M-B extended warranty, and warranty work would be performed by an authorized M-B dealer. However, to have any work performed, I was told I'd have to bring my car to a Chrysler dealer for initial diagnosis. From there the car would be brought to a M-B dealer. I politely declined that generous offer and went back to the dealer where I bought my car, M-B Laguna Niguel who matched the lowest price I could find, which at the time was quoted to me by M-B of Chico, CA.
As long as your car is less than 1 year old and has no more than 12,000 miles, you can purchase a M-B extended warranty. Outside of that you may have to buy a 3rd party warranty.

13 - 24 months: 10 percent surcharge.
25 - 36 months: 15 percent surcharge.
37 - 48 months: 20 percent surcharge.

Thanks for the info
I knew the dealer was less then reasonable on the price. That dealer operates as if everyone is paying with other people's money. When I picked up my car from the dealer after european dealer. I was surprised to not find another set of floor mats in the car. Numerous web postings and the factory rep said that the port would put in another set in the trunk as they do for all cars. I now wonder if the dealer just took the unused mats to sell at the parts counter.
