Bluetooth compatability question
Has anyone tried to use the new cingular LG CU500 cell phone with an 07 E350 voice command bluetooth adapter? I was told when I bought the car that if it is not on the compatability list, it can lock up my system. Is that true? Shuold I just true to connect them or is it too risky? Has anyone tried it? Thanks!

It won't hurt, freeze or otherwise "break" your system. These "approved" lists just mean the phone has been paired and seems to work. Remember, bluetooth is a set of standard "profiles". If both sides implement the same set of profiles correctly, eureka. The trick is knowing which bluetooth profiles and versions each side is designed to use. That's too complicated to cover here.
The most basic profile you'll need is one called "hands free profile", but there are others. For example, the common Razr V3 supports two profiles.
HS (Headset)
HFP 1.0 (Handsfree)
The HFP profile includes five other profiles:
DUN Dialup Networking
GOEP Generic Object Exchange
OPP Object Push
GAP Generic Access
FTP File Transfer Profile
But wait, it get's worse. Some Carriers disable some the profiles.
The best thing to do is pair the phone and see if all is well.
